This caboose presented to the city of Carbondale by Station Carbondale, Inc. as an educational and historic reminder of the positive impact railroads had on the early development of our city and nation.

Built in 1903 by the Illinois Central Railroad, the Old Railroad Passenger Depot has since been restored and now serves as home to the Carbondale Train Museum. Filled with information, artifacts and souveniers, the museum contains significant facts relating to Carbondale's history.
