The Springfield and Central Illinois African American History Museum preserves and celebrates authentic African American experiences in Central Illinois through exhibitions, education, collections, oral histories, and community programs
The Springfield & Central Illinois African American History Museum will be closed for construction beginning May 13, 2024. Construction is scheduled to be completed sometime late Summer or early Fall 2025
The Museum will provide research opportunities, educational programming and interpretive services for historians, authors, educators, and others interested in the lives and legacies of African Americans in Central Illinois.
