Ratskeller
931 York Street, Quincy, IL 62301
Bars & Taverns
A cozy German-themed pub in the heart of the Historic Dick Brothers Brewery District in Quincy, Illinois.
Ratskeller is a German word, literally meaning a meeting place in a basement. “Rat” meaning “council” and “keller ” meaning basement, it was a place for people of town government to assemble after the grueling process of mandating, and debrief. It was a way for everyone to come back together despite expected outcome and party allegiance. A ratskeller was a critical part of society in Germany, and remains the cornerstone of Oktoberfest in Munich to this day.
It’s our sincere hope that such a legacy may endure in our ratskeller as well. That no matter your background or what you’re carrying in life, you can come together with others and share good beer and good times.
With a seasonal rotation of both local and out of town brews, we’ll bring the beer, you bring the goodwill. See you there!
